5 Days Zagora Desert Camel Trekking from Marrakech

Take a 4-day camel trek from Marrakech to Zagora. It is the start of our adventure. This tour will reveal the mountains and the nomads’ history and traditions. You’ll see the most important site for rock paintings.

We will cross Jabel Bani from Lghoula (Foum Zguid), the mouth. They call it so because it is the only mountain pass that lets hikers cross to the other side. An old Nomads caravan found it while crossing to Marrakech from Africa, via Lake Iriki. You will discover the painted rocks that go back to the prehistoric age. An interesting site to discover, especially for researchers and scientists.

Day 01 :

Marrakech → Zagora → Lghoula is the starting place of your Camel Trekking

We will start from Zagora, the starting point of our camel trekking. We also offer transport from various Moroccan cities, including Marrakech, Agadir, and Ouarzazate. It will take you to our starting point in Zagora. We will take the 4×4 from Zagora to the starting place Elghoula entrance on the first day. We will cross the mountains to the other side of Elfayja. Our first camp will be at the rock paintings in Elfayja.

Day 02 :

We will start from Zagora the starting point of our camel trekking. We also offer transportation from different cities in Morocco, Marrakech, Agadir Ouarzazate and other locations to bring you to our starting point Zagora. We will take the 4×4 from Zagora to the starting place elghoula entrance on the first day. We will cross the mountains to the other side of Elfayja Our first camp will be in the painting rocks in Elfayja.

After this discovery day, we will head south. We aim to reach the beautiful, remote oasis of Zawiat El Mhasser.

Day 03 :

Zawiat Elmhasser → Geltat Elmsafi

We will head south through the valley to reach a beautiful gelatos in the middle of the mountains. Today we have a secret for you that you will discover when we reach this place. You will also discover the mountains around which contains an old site of ruins from the nomads in the old past.

Day 04 :

from Geltat Elmsafi → Erg Chegaga

Today, we will start early. We will cross the mountains to a new landscape. We will see the big dunes from far away as soon as we get out of the mountains. We will pass the last desert night in Erg Chegaga. In a Bedouin desert camp not far from the biggest dunes in Morocco. We will celebrate with the team of the camp the last night in the Sahara with Berber music around the fire.

Day 05 :

Erg chegaga → Foum Zguid → Marrakech

The next morning, after breakfast, we will leave the camel team. Then, we will take the 4×4 to Foum Zguid, the gate to the Sahara. We will cross the dry Lake Iriki and the Tajine Mountains, as well as the oasis of Elmadouar. After reaching Foum Zguid, you will meet another minibus. It will give you the choice to return to either Marrakech or Agadir.
