8-Day Camel Trekking Expedition in Zagora Desert, Morocco

Embark on an 8-day camel trekking journey from the Zagora Desert.

We are going to begin our camel trekking from Lgatara, 20 kilometers away from Zagora. After you arrive from Marrakech, Agadir, or any other area.

We’ll cross the Jebel Bani Mountains to reach the incredible hills of Lake Iriki.

We’ll pass through breathtaking canyons and tall mountains. As a highlight, we’ll spend a night at Guelta, a unique swimming pool in the remote mountains.

Swimming in a characteristic pool is an experience not accessible on many occasions.

Only the wanderers of the locale know where to find these lakes and whether they fill with water or not.

On the final night, we will celebrate at Bivouac Les Nomades in the Chegaga Hills by Lake Iriki.

Day 01 :

Marrakech → Zagora → Elgatara

After reaching Zagora, we will take you in the 4×4 to the Elgatara mountains. There is a mountain entrance to cross Elfayja to the other side. After reaching Elgatara, we will find our camel team at the camp, under the mountains. We will spend the night in Elgatara.

Day 02 :

Elgatara → Jabel bani → Elfayja

After breakfast, We will cross Jabel Bani to the other side to reach the Diabi oasis. Where we will pass the first night.

Day 03 :

Diabi Oasis → El Gelta → The Swimming Pool

After breakfast in the diabetic oasis, we will walk through the Ouad Elmhasse River to Elmsaffi Guelta. The gelato means a very big natural swimming pool means a place where there is a lot of water where you can swim. The mountains surrounding Guelta are worth spending a whole day there and exploring the ruins of the old Bedouin who was living there.

Day 04 :

Elgelta → Edge of Jabel bani

After spending a wonderful day in the gelato and exploring the mountains around. Tomorrow morning, we will be fresh for the hike through Ouad Elmhasser to camp on the edge of Jabel Bani.

Day 05 :

Edge of Jabel bani → Legrizima Oasis

We will hike through the last canyons to the last region. We'll camp by the small dunes of Erg Chegaga in a beautiful oasis. You can wash and refill our water bottles there. In the evening, we will walk to the dunes to see the beautiful sunset from the top of the dunes.

Day 06 :

Oasis of Legrizima → Erg Elghoul

We will completely cross the mountains and have a very different landscape. Today we will walk through the dunes to reach one of the biggest dunes in the area. We will camp near the big dunes of Erg Elghoul.

Day 07 :

Erg Elghoul → Lake Iriki → Bivouac Les Nomades

We will cross the dunes in the morning. Then, we will reach the salty plateau of Lake Iriki. Finally, we will arrive at bivouac Les Nomades in the Chegaga dunes, from the side of Lake Iriki. We will celebrate our last night in the camp. We'll have traditional food, a big fire, and Bedouin music.

Day 08 :

Bivouac Les Nomades → Foum Zguid → Marrakech

After a night in Bivouac les Nomades in the Sahara, we will have breakfast. Then, we will take a 4×4 to Foum Zguid and back to Marrakech.
